FAQ

What should I do to get my crystallization plates stored in the imaging system?

-> Send us your request by email. Please make sure to indicate the plate ID and when you want to get it. We will send you an email when your plate is ready to be picked up.

What to do if I want to have an UV image taken?

-> You have two options. 1) You can use the CRIMS interface in order to add VIS and/or UV imaging of one or few drops (viewing tab tool). 2) If you want to image a full plate, please send us your request by email and indicate the plate ID. Let us know if you one VIS and/or UV inspection.

Can I share TF results when sharing plate?

-> No, but we will try to add this feature in the next CRIMS update!

How is the access to the SPC/crystallization rooms regulated?

-> EMBL users can access the SPC and crystal storage rooms (19C) at anytime. The access to the crystallization room (liquid handling robots) is restricted from Monday to Friday between 9h until 18h (17h Friday). External users, visitors, collaborators and beamline users can have access only to the SPC laboratory. Please contact the SPC staff or your local contact at least 2 weeks before your visit.

What is the standard buffer used for Thermal Shift Assay during the quality control?

-> The thermal stability of your protein is measured in 100mM HEPES pH 7.5, 100mM NaCl (final concentration). Briefly, 2ul of your protein is diluted in 5ul of 5X standard buffer (500mM HEPES pH7.5, 500mM NaCl), + 16ul of water + 2ul of diluted Sypro-Orange. Finale volume for the assay is 25ul. So your sample is diluted at the end 12.5 time!
